India Garden in Rochester

Good food, infact great food. Space a bit cramped as far as seating is concerned. Staff very nice and knowledgeable about the menu. Parking space provided in the parking lot. I highly recommend trying their lamb Madras. Unique dish which is flavorfull and familiar all at the same time. Located in downtown Rochester. Def worth a try and maybe more.

Good Indian food for very cheap price.

The Resturant has a big verity of indian foods , we ordered the butter chicken masala and the lamb masala and the chicken tandori , they also provide plain white rice for free , the masala is ridiculously good and delicious with the rice and with the nan bread , we had also a hot sauce in the side with samosa and both were very good , the place and the dining in general were lovely , definitely going back again .

Fantastic dishes! Went there to try out the lunch buffet and I found the best place for Indian food in the area for sure. The staff was so friendly and made me feel so welcomed. I will be back soon!

Not owned by Indians and that is very visible. It is sub-standard food and unappealing vibe. If you think this is Indian food, well...sorry, it is NOT.

Honestly the food is not great. The restaurant seems to be owned by Bangladesh people and trying to make Indian recipes. Which eventually brings the disconnect to the original Indian flavors and taste.The ambiance also not great and encouraging to visit again. Only American people who don’t know much about Indian recipes are visiting.

Hands down the most delicious food I've ever eaten, Indian or otherwise. The first time I ordered I didn't even have a menu, but I just asked for a few dishes I'd seen mentioned in other reviews and I was not disappointed! My only regret about having eaten here is that I live in another city, and now I know what I'm missing. Every order was good for at least two additional meals. I would seriously consider driving back to Rochester just to eat this food again!

Good food in a real hospitable environment. I ordered Chicken Tikka Bhuna, Basmati Rice & Naan Bread. Pakora & Samosa as appetizers. Every single item was excellent. Best value for money.

This has always been my favorite restaurant! I have many cherished memories of coming here for the lunch buffet with my dad and sister (never forgetting to order an amazing mango lassi)!

Food to dollar amount on my first try of India Garden was slightly disappointing. I tried the Shrimp Curry and probably won't be eating it again even though it was tasty, but I heard the Chicken curry is where it's at. With just a few Shrimps in the curry for almost 20 bucks I wasn't very satisfied. Beautiful restaurant and good service however, I am gluten free and they accommodated nicely.

My favorite restaurant in all of Rochester. I have been coming here for 15 years now, and I can say without a doubt the food is still as fresh and delicious as the very first time. Outstanding service as well, can’t find a nicer lady to serve and wait on you. Btw you must top off your meal with the Kheer for dessert, best rice pudding Ever!

Great restaurant, pleasant staff, wonderful food. The menu has a huge variety to suit every taste. I had a sweet lassi which was just right. Sometimes these things curdle or separate but this was delicious!My chicken korma was not too hot, not too mild, and the sag paneer had a distinctive spicy flavor. The poppadoms were very crisp and the raita and mango chutney complemented them beautifully. Great naan breads too with some workmanlike rice finished off a superb meal. A bit pricey, and that's the only reason I haven't given this restaurant five stars. I'd definitely go there again!

Have loved this place for many years! I've never had a substandard meal here. Always great, always fresh, always quality. Being a Midwest boy, I can't speak to the authenticity, but I can speak to the consistency. Very good. Buffet is a great way to start if unfamiliar with Indian cuisine.

I ordered the Tandoori Mixed Grill. Description on DoorDash “tandoori chicken, chicken tikkka, boti kabab,seekh kabab,shrimp” and this is what I got. Price: $20.95. There was ONE small shrimp that you see in the picture and two pieces of chicken. You be the judge but I think this is worth like $8 at most! Disappointed.

I ordered $80 + worth food at this establishment through door dash & out of a few things I ordered one item was the mix grill which is supposed to be a mixture of all types of their meats considering it costs $20 you would think you’d be paying for a lot right ? WRONG! I got not even $5 worth of food & when I called the restaurant to let them know What happened the woman I spoke with was not considerate at all in fact she went on to tell me there’s nothing she could do & to take it up with door dash. For future Reference INDIA GARDEN door dash didn’t prepare & pack my food, you guys did. door dash didn’t rip off a customer & then try to talk down to them for speaking on facts You did, I will never eat at your restaurant nor would i have dealt with this in that fashion . Absolutely rude , guys don’t order the mix grill I promise you it’s a waste of your money.

Had lunch buffet on a weekend. Buffet had the number and variety of items you'd expect from an indian buffet: naan bread, tandoori chicken, etc. The restaurant was busy and as a consequence the buffet items were being replaced frequently from the kitchen. The fresh fruit made a fine ending to the meal. I'm not sure if I should give 4 or 5 stars. I'd have appreciated more dishes with more spice and heat, but must admit the buffet did not have any items that weren't appetizing - they all were quite tasty. The wait staff were very prompt removing plates and refilling waters. I would certaintly eat here again.

This is the worst restaurant, breheated chicken tandoori.Food quality is poor.You do not taste real Indian spices.I do not recommend this restaurant at all.

A lot of people I know enjoy this establishment. I'm giving it 3 stars because there was not much on their menu that would fit the dietary restrictions of a vegetarian or someone choosing low carbs. Staff were nice and attentive. If you are not comfortable sitting close to other people, this may not be the place for you. The tables are all close and unfortunately sometimes there are patrons that don't respect that space and the boundaries of those around them.

India Garden is my favorite restaurant, anywhere. The food is absolutely incredible, plenty of vegetarian choices, pricing is reasonable, and the staff is very kind. I recommend the lunch buffet!

How good the food is depends on the day. It's very noticeable with the pakoras, samosas, and the bread. Sometimes these things are spot on delicious and every now and then just so/so. Also, the butter chicken when it is on is absolutely delicious. They do have a lot of vegetarian and vegan options. I really enjoy the buffet because of the variety. The decorations definitely need updating and cleaning as it is very dusty :(

Have been coming here since back when it first opened as Taj-Mahal back in the 90s. Family has always enjoyed it.Now that I have had Indian food in multiple States I have the perspective that I really would say India Garden is as good as any other place I have been to or better. The Sunday buffet is the best deal for Indian food with a great variety. Sadly ordering from the menu gets pricy quick and really is for groups to share food. So not great for individual diners. So it makes the buffet a wonderful after church meal.

If you are looking for authentic Biryani and Naan, then this place is your first choice. They have varieties of food. They are good. Taste good. Service is good. Small, nice and clean place.
